Everyone seems to go crazy over Black Man Nasi Lemak

A long queue waiting to order their food was what created the curiosity.

I decided to check it out, and that was how I discovered the Black Man Nasi Lemak (黑人椰浆饭).

In case you are wondering why he is known as `Black Man,' Pokmund Sor is pure Chinese, who speaks perfect Mandarin.

His Chinese version of the national dish has received raving reviews, over the past nine years since he started operating his nasi lemak stall.

Over time, he realised that, in order to serve the Chinese community, his nasi lemak has to take on a slightly different twist, which is why he began to introduce his signature lemongrass pork chop to the nasi lemak.

Unfortunately, when we arrived at about 12.30 noon, the lemongrass pork chop was already sold out.

“You must try his lemongrass pork chop,” insisted Lim Han Wei, who had also just arrived with his wife, Karen Tan to pack their favourite Nasi Lemak to take home.

The couple, hailing from Damansara Damai, have been a fan of Black Man’s Nasi Lemak since 2016. “That time, he was operating at Bandar Sri Damansara,” he said. “When Black Man moved to Keng Nam restaurant at Kepong Metro Prima, we followed him.”

After Black Man moved to Kampung Kia Kopitiam here at Vista Magna Kepong, Han Wei said he still enjoys Black Man’s nasi lemak, especially the lemongrass pork chop.

I have to reserve that for the next round because by noontime, there was very little left, but sufficient for us to just do this review.

On the banana leaf plate, Black Man served us the other two of his signature dishes – Sambal Minced Pork and Curry Pork Balls – along with his sambal prawns and spicy sambal belacan.

Now, I can say I do not regret driving past the stall at the back lane of Vista Magna. At least, now, I know it’s curiosity that helps me to discover the Black Man's unbeatable Nasi Lemak served with pork.
