A terrible car crash left Jenifer Mong nearly paralyzed. Even if she survived, the lower part of her body may not be able to move anymore.

It was December 2011, A family of four,: Jackson Lo, his wife, Jenifer Mong, and two children, John Lo and Lisa Lo met the tragic accident. They had left Perak for a week of vacations at the Genting Highlands. On their way on the Karak Highway, the trees along the road appeared seemingly to welcome them, waving their branches.

They sang happily together along their way to their destination. They are a family of four like-minded individuals: adventurous, optimistic, brave and lovers of music. “Life is really great!” they thought.

Then, in just the blink of an eye, everything was shattered. It was a heart-stopping moment, when a speeding lorry hit them from their back. In a minute, Jackson’s four wheel drive overturned, hitting the roadside barriers and went onto the opposite road.

Next, he remembers he was pinned to his seat by the steering wheel, his body screaming with pain.

“I could see my children, who were seated behind, losing consciousness. They were bleeding profusely,” Jackson describes the scene.

To his left, he saw Jenifer, whose eyes were opened but but there was no response. Statistically, Jenifer could not survive. Her spinal cord was badly hurt and slightly dislocated. She had bruises all over her body.

A kind-hearted passer- by had contacted the ambulance, which arrived in no time. A few paramedics calmed the trapped and terrified Jackson, while the others worked swiftly on saving Jennifer’s life.

One wrong move could have left her dead or paralyzed. The paramedics also pounded John and Lisa’s chest to bring their heart back to life and stopped their bleeding. They were then sent to a nearby hospital for immediate treatments.

Jenifer was wheeled into the operation theatre where she had her spinal surgery. By now, she had sunk into a coma and was hooked up to half a dozen tubes and machines.

The next 24 hours were the critical moment for her. Any fever or infection could become fatal. She was taken care of by her mother and family members.

Time passed by quickly. When Jackson and his children recovered from their serious injuries, Jenifer was still in a coma after one month.

There was no sign of hope for Jenifer. According to Dr Lee Choon How, if her condition did not improve, the family would have to make a decision on Jenifer’s life. “I don’t agree to this suggestion of taking her life,” Jackson protested. “Doctors are supposed to save lives!”

Day by day, Jackson lived in fear of losing his wife. However, in his heart, he hoped to see Jenifer waking up. She has always brought sunshine to his life.

Miracles do happen! One day, while sitting beside Jenifer, Jackson held her hands tightly and said, “Please be awake, I am waiting for you here,. I am always by your side, supporting you.”

At that moment, Jenifer’s finger moved and tears rolled down her cheeks. When Jackson saw this, he cried in happiness uncontrollably. “I could not believe my eyes!” Jackson says. “It was a sign that she was able to hear me.”

That morning, Jenifer suddenly woke up from her coma. After a few months of therapy, she was able to walk normally.

It was indeed a miracle! That day, she was no longer another car crash victim; she was just Jenifer, living with her loved ones.
