Pinnochio was a poor boy who once lived with his dad Geppetto in a small cottage.
One day an old man visited Pinnochio when Geppetto was not around.
“Hello, Pinnochio. How are you?” he said. “Remember, I am your uncle, Stromboli. I used to buy you lots of sweets when you were younger.”
Pinnocchio could hardly remember anyone by that name. and
“It’s okay, Pinnochio, you may not remember me,” Stromboli said. “But, can you help Uncle Stromboli to take a magical lamp from a cave? I will reward you a fortune.”
Pinnocchio paused for a moment. He then agreed to help Stromboli.
Stromboli then took Pinnochio to a cave full of gold and jewellery. Pinnochio opened his eyes widely.
“Well, my boy, if you can help me take just some of these jewelleries, you would be the wealthiest boy in town,” Stromboli told Pinnochio. “Just imagine it! When you become very rich, every beautiful princess in this world would be dying to marry you!”
But, strangely Stromboli told Pinnochio not to take anything yet. “What I need you to take for me, however, is just a magical lamp,” he whispered into Pinnochio’s ears. “After that, you can have all the treasures in this cave all by yourself!”
Pinnochio did as he was told. Pinnochio crawled into the cave and grabbed hold of the lamp. “Okay, Uncle Stromboli, I have got your lamp,” he cried out. “Time to pull me out of this cave.”
Stromboli asked for the lamp first. ”Good boy, now pass it to me first,” he told Pinnochio. Pinnochio refused; so Stromboli went into a rage. ”You fool, I am not your uncle but a sorcerer!” he shouted back, angrily. Just then, the cave stone slowly closed.
Pinnochio panicked. Suddenly, the lamp was glowing brightly when Pinnochio rubbed it. A genie came out of the lamp.
”Master, I can grant you three wishes,” the genie said. ”What is it that you want me to do for you, my beloved Master?”
Pinocchio made a quick wish. “Let me out of here!”
He grabbed as much jewellery as he could into his bag. "Poof!"Before he realised it, he had escaped from the cave. He quickly ran home.
The next day, he wished that he could have the beautiful Princess Aurora as his wife. Before he could say another word, the genie had granted him his second wish.
Aurora fell in love with Pinnochio and five years, they had a baby they named, Cricketty.
But, Stromboli the sorcerer would not let go of Pinnochio. He kept disturbing Pinnochio and his family.
It made Pinnochio so angry that he wished that he could kill Stromboli.
But, the genie did not tell Pinnochio that killing was wrong, and if this was his wish, Pinnochio would lose everything although he could have his wish granted.
Stromboli died of heart attack, and Pinnochio lost everything – all this great wealth, Princess Aurora and their son, Cricketty. That is how Pinnochio came back to his normal self, but he was now a happier boy than ever.
