Peace or War

– Would you choose peace or war?

By Joel Tye

We need to work for peace instead of going to war with our neighboring countries.

In retrospect, we can learn from our history. World War 2, for example, was one of the bloodiest and deadliest conflicts in the world leaving over 70 million fatalities within just a span of six years from 1939 to 1945.

Every effort must be made to stop the wars if all of us want to live a happy life. This will certainly help the world to enjoy peace and harmony.

War is a terrifying experience for everyone, young or old, soldiers or civilians. The soldiers in the battlefront may lose their lives, but civilians may lose a family member.

If a war breaks out today, many countries would be burnt to ash, especially the smaller countries like Malaysia. Many facilities such as hospitals, schools, homes and even theme parks that we have grown to love, would be destroyed.

Many civilians and soldiers will die in a war, while some who survive may end up becoming forced labour.

We can lose our loved ones, even our best friends and family members in a war. We should stop wars at all cost, and better still, to negotiate peace so that we can avoid becoming engaged in a war.
